2020 Resolutions
Instead of a random list of resolutions for the year, I am going to share my goals in each of the important areas of my life, my WRAMPS, if you will 😉
WRITING
Finish the Owens Chronicles Trilogy.
Book One is already published, so I would like to write books 2 and 3, then edit them without a deadline looming so I can take the time to make them the absolute best that they can be.
Market and Promote my Books
I dabbled a bit with facebook and amazon ads last year, but I would like to actually look into a course or something so I can figure out how to market and promote my books in a way that makes strangers want to buy them. I appreciate my family and friends more than they could possibly know, but I would love to not have to rely on people loving me to get book sales.
Establish Writing Habits/ a Writing Routine.
Lately, I have been spending 80% of my time writing when I have a deadline, then writing sporadically once the deadline is done. I want to have a long and healthy writing career, so I want to establish a routine where I can write every day, consistently. It would also be wonderful to have a more dedicated and organized place to write, rather than the corner of our living room.
RELATIONSHIPS
Don’t take them for granted.
It’s easy to think, “My relationships are good, so I’ll focus on everything else that needs work”. I want to be present and there for the people I care about. This means putting the phone and the laptop down sometimes. Driving to Montreal at least once a month. Date nights. The good stuff.
ACTING
Train Consistently
I still haven’t found my Toronto acting class, but I miss having a weekly gym to exercise my acting muscles and live the lives of interesting characters. I need to try different places, find one that I love and go there on a weekly basis.
Book roles.
I have yet to audition for and book a union role, so this is a goal I would love to accomplish. It entails creating a killer package to get an amazing agent, going on auditions (or sending out self-tapes with the awesome setup I will build) and winning the room.
Film Stuff.
Ideally, this would be as a direct result of my previous resolution, but I am also very happy to be a part of friends’ projects, or to create my own. Or to simply get-together with a bunch of friends and film stuff.
MONIES
Spend less than I make
That’s the goal, first and foremost. Then, I want to use whatever extra I have for savings, so that I can afford the things I want. That includes big things in the future, as well as trips and spoiling the people I love today.
PRODUCING
Love You Better.
Or, if inspiration strikes, another project that is Bechdel approved, that I wrote, that means something to me.
Submit get-together to festivals
And hopefully enjoy the festival circuit.
BE IN SHAPE
This is a goal in and of itself. It is meant to encompass all physical and health goals, so I would love to get to a point where I feel strong and confident in my body and what it can accomplish. To get there, I plan on working up a sweat everyday, achieving my step count and drinking lots of water. I also want to continue my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey and take advantage of the Black Belt World and Monkey Vault passes I have been holding on to. Basically, I want to get back to deserving the #allthethings I used to put on all of my Instagram posts.
And, not so much fitness goals, but still health-related, I want to limit my carbon footprint and be better at keeping the apartment clean.
Are you working on any goals? If you have any tips to stay on track, please share them in the comments.
