  • Typing up and Tea

I had my first official go out of the house and work day on Wednesday, which is embarrassing, because I wish I worked a lot more. That is to say, I am almost always working, it just usually isn’t the kind where I get paid in relation to the hours I put in. That being said, I spent the day watching people sing and play games in between organizing my stories and putting down new ideas. Not to mention seeing some friends and singing along to Miley Cyrus. If every day could be like that, I would be one happy actress/writer. The rest of the week was mostly spent typing…

  • Sunshine over Cloudy Days

2024 is off to an amazing start, but not without an annoying hitch. I got in a few days of hitting all my goals (writing, social media posts, translating, etc.) before we set off for Florida to (belatedly) celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday with a few of his friends who are spending the winter there, and some family. The latter being me, my parents, my brother, his wife, and my nephew. It was absolutely amazing. The weather was temperamental, so we only went swimming a couple of times, and spent a lot of time indoors, but I was there for the company more than anything. My brother joked he was…

  • Happy First Birthday SOG!!!

Happy Birthday Shards of Glass! Exactly one year ago today, I published my first novel, effectively making me a published author. I was blown away by the support I received from friends, family, and even complete strangers. If you’re considering a venture into self-publishing, here are 10 Things I Didn’t Do, That I Wish I Had: 10- Create a Logline As soon as you tell someone you’re writing a book, they will ask, “What is it about?” It took me forever to come up with a succinct way of explaining Shards of Glass (It’s about a girl who is forced to live with her father, that she hasn’t seen since…

  • June Goals and Quarantine Woes

Whenever I feel like I am losing control or have too many unpredictables in my life, my favorite thing is to make plans. Often they’re plans for the future that I have hardly any control over, but it’s nice to dream about where I could be heading. I break down these dreams into more realistic steps that I have control over, then organize them into years and months and weeks, so I have the steps, should I choose to follow them. Because I love me some accountability, here are my June Goals: Finish a draft of Legacy, the third book in my Owens Chronicles trilogy Write a short Romance story…

  • ~*~ Full ACTRA Member ~*~

Most of this week has been spent wearing my writer and producer hats. We had 3 production meetings for Little Bird (which goes to camera next week!), and I am pushing through a new draft for Prophecy (which comes out next month!). I also made time for a tiny but momentous acting task…   Getting my FULL ACTRA MEMBERSHIP!!! For the non-actors out there, ACTRA is the Canadian actors’ union (on the English side). There are multiple ways to join (background work, theater school, a role) as an apprentice, but then you need 3 credits to be a Full Member (unless you get in through a reciprocal agreement with SAG…

  • Sets and Rents

Being on set every day last week was only part of what made it awesome. I played a high school student, a cop, a bookstore patron then wrote my book in holding without ever being brought to set on the fourth day. Not a single one of them lasted the full 8 hours, so I made it to Jiu-Jitsu on Tuesday and Wednesday, got a whole bunch of writing done and had supper with my parents. Their visit was the other thing that made this week so much fun. My parents drove to Toronto on Friday to hang out with me, so we had supper before I asked my dad…

  • Island Escape

On Friday I was slightly procrastinating with the book writing and cover ordering, so when I got the opportunity to have a masterclass subscription, I decided to go for it. Because I haven’t given up on the acting dream and am interested in producing and directing as well, I had a whole lot of classes to explore. I’ll write a full post on the classes once I have a chance to go through my notes and absorb them, but I am definitely learning a lot and getting inspired, which is often the most beneficial part. I don’t think anyone watches Gordon Ramsay’s masterclass and immediately wins competitions and becomes a…

  • July 2019

I took the month of July off from Jiu-JItsu because of the whole vasovagal syncope thing. I still got to practice a bit with the 4Points Summer Camps. We did Jiu-Jitsu and Obstacle Courses in the morning, then spent the afternoons acting. Every week of camp, the kids got together to come up with a story idea, write a script, then put it all on camera. Dave is editing the videos and I can’t wait to see how it all turned out.   I spent a few days in Montreal for my cousin Steve’s birthday party and a Baby Shower for my two nephews. Chelsea and Rikki will either be…

  • WRAMPS

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of work opportunities, family and writing. There were ups and downs, but overall I am so excited for what I hope is to come. I have a list of priorities, that I tried to find an acronym for. I eventually ended up with WRAMPS, so that is how I am going to break down this Blog Post. Writing As you may have read in my last post, I’m in the thick of the 4th draft of a book I started in 2003. I realized it was partially written by a 13-year-old and I was trying too hard to stay true to that…

  • I’m Writing a Book!

I actually started writing the book in 2003. At first, it was a bunch of characters brought together by a traumatic event. Then I fleshed it out and used it for Camp Nanowrimo in July 2015. I finished it that month and have been slowly self-editing it for years, adding and removing chapters and characters, struggling to make it the best book it can be. And I think we’re getting close. I am currently on my fourth draft and am sharing this with you because once I am done editing (with help, so much help), I am going to publish it. This is huge for me because my mom is…
