I’m doing the #milwordy Challenge

Good morning everyone!

Lately I have mostly been writing and preparing for the Legacy launch on September 11th. It is only 10 days away!

I also launched a youtube channel. The first video comes out today, but I added an extra one yesterday because I am going to be participating in the #milwordy challenge, something that has been going around #authortube lately. Basically, you have one year to write a million words. I decided to start my year at the same time as those other authors, so my challenge will run from September 1st 2020 (today) to August 31st 2021.

A million words is not something to be taken lightly, but I was already planning to write between 2000-3000 words a day, and this is like an official and public push to help get me there. I will be counting all the words in my first drafts, all of my rewrites, as well as descriptions, blog posts and newsletters. I have so many awesome projects I want to write, but I have other ones I have already started and I am having so much trouble finishing them. I am also afraid to undertake the big, awesome projects I’ve planned, because I keep worrying I’m not good enough to write them yet. This challenge is the impetus I need to get back on track.

What’s really important to remember is that the point of this challenge isn’t to burn out and become disenchanted or frustrated with writing. The goal is a million words, yes, and it will be awesome if I achieve it. But if I don’t make it, I won’t beat myself up about it. I’ll still have more words written than I would have if I didn’t participate. And it’s fun to be a part of something, to be striving for the same goal as a bunch of other people, encouraging each other and sharing victories and troubles. I’m very excited.
