All You Need Is Love <3

Last week I had the honor of being a part of my grandparents’ 55th wedding anniversary party. We spent Friday decorating the hall, then Saturday fixing flowers, rehearsing speeches and getting ready before the party finally happened. It was an opportunity to get the family together for a happy occasion, but it was also pretty amazing to realize that 55 years ago, these two people decided to spend the rest of their lives together, and they still love and are committed to each other to this day. With the rate of successful marriages dropping with each generation, it’s refreshing. And it reminds me that if all else fails, if the acting doesn’t work out…I would be happy just marrying the man of my dreams and raising a family. But then again, I hope to have the dreamy husband, the kids and a successful acting career 🙂

Over the next few days, I had a lot of lines to learn and preparing to do for the Tom Todoroff workshop this weekend. I also had a bunch of videos to review for a workshop I plan on taking in June. Right now I feel slightly overwhelmed with my day job and the acting, so I am really hoping that I will still be busy in a few weeks, when all I will have to concentrate on is the acting part. Filming, classes, auditioning…that’s what I want to be focusing on 🙂

My Thursday class with Suzanna was moved to Wednesday this week, and also combined with another class, so we were a lot of actors together. I had spent a month in the Wednesday class last year, so I knew some of them, and it meant I got to watch some new scenes 🙂 Mine was with Nick, a scene from Flight. We rehearsed a bit in the hallway before putting it on its feet. It was written so my character starts crying at the end, which always scares me. But this time, our conversation is at a funeral, and there are hurtful things said, so while I didn’t exactly bring tears, I feel like I was on the brink of them. After the first take with the nearly crying though, Suzanna felt I should try it more angry, more confronting him than taking it, which was really fun as well, though I have to work on not smiling.

Yesterday, I took a break from all of my responsibilities and went to see Star Trek Into Darkness with Carolyne. It was very entertaining, and though it was long (over 2 hours), it didn’t feel like it. There were no dull moments for me to wonder how much time was left. These movies are becoming a weekly tradition, and I am definitely enjoying it 🙂

Today, Lara came over to my house to work on our scene for tomorrow. We chose a song for our dancing at the end, but I still feel awkward instead of loose as I should be. Hopefully it will all be worked out by tomorrow, and we will be wonderful. We know our lines, we went through the guideposts…and I am terrified in an exciting way 🙂
