End of Tech Week :)

So, this past week has been pretty busy for me. I have been working at McGill, I had an acting class, and we have been rehearsing every single night this week for Opening Night tomorrow. Tonight is our one night off, so I am going to see the Avengers with my brother, but I thought I would drop by first to let you know how things are going.

First off, in acting class on Monday, I had to rush in and out in order to get to rehearsal, but I still got to do my scene a bunch of times, audition style. I had debated not going, but the part was so not what I usually play, that I absolutely had to give it a try. I was Zoe, from House of Cards, and the scene is about her trying to reclaim some power, and she does it in a way I would never attempt, and uses words I would not be using. Still, it was really interesting to get to be in the kind of circumstance I would never see myself as being in. We tried doing it still once, which was definitely a challenge, and it forced me to not be all smiling, like I usually am. Definitely a learning experience.

As for rehearsals, we have done the whole show multiple times, sometimes just cue to cue to make sure we have the lighting and the cues right, all the way to yesterday’s dress rehearsal. It is really something to see how the show evolves every time we do it. I can’t wait to share it with everyone on Opening Night tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed for me 😉

Don’t lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality.
