• Busy as a Bee

I haven’t written in forever, which is partially because I have been busy, but mostly because there are two things that I wanted to figure out before sharing with you. Since they still haven’t been resolved, I decided to post what I can, and to give you the rest once I have all of the information. Since it has been quite a while, I won’t give you the day by day summaries I normally do, but will just let you know what has been going on with me (for the most part). I have had two classes with Suzanna. During the first one, I got to do 3 different scenes!…

  • My first Award Show

I had a nice, busy weekend, followed by a relatively relaxing Monday. On Friday I was lucky enough to be an extra with some friends, and also got to make some new ones. It was a much smaller set than the one I have been on recently, so the crew ate with the extras, and there were a lot less people. I thoroughly enjoyed the call time of nearly noon, compared to the 3-4 a.m. I had gotten used to. I didn’t really enjoy driving home with the bridge closed due to fireworks, but all considered it was a very fun day!   On Saturday, I had Day 1 of…

  • Wraps, Trailers and Acting Income

Last week after posting here, I received my first cheque representing acting income (at least since deciding to make acting my full-time career). It wasn’t a huge amount, and I would have gotten paid more for working at my previous job, even before the promotion, but it was validation. Not to mention that my mom pointed out that i would rather work for free on movie sets than for 40 000 a year at my old job. I also went for some shopping and to see The Bling Ring with Carolyne and Morgan. It was a different kind of acting, but it was interesting. And, they both seem to be…

  • Auditions and Monologues

Summer has begun, and I now have a closet full of pretty dresses and shorts and summer clothes to wear! This seems silly to mention, but since I was 11, I worked at a campground, which meant that I spent the majority of my summer wearing a uniform, savoring the few precious days that I could actually wear normal clothes. Now that I quit my job, I can wear summer dresses every day! Which is exciting, but also terrifying, because having no job means I have no income. Which is probably why I have a love and hate relationship with my trip to the states last weekend. I had an…

  • Sunshine and Someday :)

I realize that the weather has been a prominent factor in my last few posts, and with good reason. On Wednesday, I was out for a walk with my family when I found out that I would be spending the next few days on set. Wardrobe asked that we dress for early spring, with lots of layers, so after lots of deliberations and hunting for lost shoes, my mom and I came out with a really cute outfit that would keep me warm if it were early spring, but that had enough layers that I could ‘strip down’ to a summery dress between takes if it got too hot. I…

  • The Waiting Game

So much has happened in the past few weeks, including my final day at the job I have held since I was 11, which has lost me my primary method of differentiating through the days. The more I dedicate my life to acting, the more I realize it is impossible to plan ahead. Auditions come up at the last minute, people get called to set the night before, shoot dates change because of the weather…it is all very exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. On the 1st, which I now realize is forever ago and I should have posted earlier, we shot a few scenes for Tricaillin. One of…

  • You Gotta Have Faith…And A Few Other Things :)

Last Saturday was the big performance. Or so my stress level seems to think of the Tom Todoroff workshop. I woke up at 3 a.m. seriously convinced that I needed to start learning my lines. Luckily, when I woke up again a few hours later, I remembered that I knew the words, had worked on it on my own, at the Fight Club, and with Lara at my house the day before. Still, the pressure was on, considering the praise I got with Lisa last time. I got there early with the intention of rehearsing some more, but instead ended up blowing balloons for Tom’s birthday party. Johnny came…

  • All You Need Is Love <3

Last week I had the honor of being a part of my grandparents’ 55th wedding anniversary party. We spent Friday decorating the hall, then Saturday fixing flowers, rehearsing speeches and getting ready before the party finally happened. It was an opportunity to get the family together for a happy occasion, but it was also pretty amazing to realize that 55 years ago, these two people decided to spend the rest of their lives together, and they still love and are committed to each other to this day. With the rate of successful marriages dropping with each generation, it’s refreshing. And it reminds me that if all else fails, if the…

  • Something to Talk About

In one of my earlier posts, I wrote how talking about your dreams can help them come true. Lately, talking about things has created somewhat of a snowball effect. For one, my last blog post garnered an invitation to go to the country and learn how to shoot, which never would have happened if I hadn’t talked about it (I come off as a very innocent, girly girl). Now the really exciting development…Because I share my journey on the Tricaillin set, a friend of mine decided to go through me when the link to submit himself for the film didn’t work. He got the part and will soon be featured…

  • 25 Things To Do Before I Turn 25

This isn’t so much a post, as a list. I have a lot of interesting things going on that I will write about once they are more concrete, but in the meantime, I am going to share this. Last week when I was filming, our makeup artist mentioned that she had completed 23 of the 25 items on her list of things to do before she turns 25. She gave a few examples of things on her list, and I figure it would be a great deadline to accomplish some goals. This list is hopefully realistic, and I fully intend on completing all 25 before April 11th 2015. I will…
