• 6 Weeks Until the New Year!

I have always found it odd that as soon as Halloween is over, we jump right into Christmas. Normally, the transition comes more gradually for me; I count down until my final exam, and then it becomes all about Christmas. This year, I don’t have any exams, or a trip to LA to count down to, so I sort of got caught in the holiday mentality. Not so much Christmas, because I need snow to really feel like it’s Christmastime, but something in my brain switched and told me it was vacation time. Luckily, with Christmas comes the New Year, which reminded me of all my resolutions, so the vacation…

  • We have a trailer :)

We finally have a little trailer for Dark Shack, the movie I shot in Quebec at the beginning of September! It only features 3 of the characters, but I am one of them, so I figured I should share 🙂 https://vimeo.com/78593762 I still don’t know when my callback is, which scared me at first. I got to thinking that maybe they had cast someone else and didn’t want to tell me, but then I ran into an actor from M is for Mien, who has already been cast on the project, and informed me that he will be reading his part for the callbacks, so they haven’t happened yet. I…

  • New Traditions <3

First of all, thank you so much to everyone who liked our video for the contest. It doesn’t close until October 31st, so if we can keep sharing and getting people to vote, that would be amazing! Last Friday I made it to stunt class 🙂 I still spend my week kind of terrified and dreading it, but then when I get there, it really isn’t that bad. I learn cool things and have a lot of fun. We did kicks and jumps and falls. I really like how this session, we are going slow and the teachers take the time to make sure we get it. I spent the…

  • Cold Reads and Auditions

Hey everyone! I was waiting for some news to come in before posting, and it wasn’t what I was hoping for, but there are different ways to look at things, and I choose to focus on the positive. Last week I spent an entire afternoon just talking with Carolyne about our plans, our progress, our hopes, our dreams. I completely lost track of time, but sometimes, you just need to get lost in the conversation and talk for hours. Sometimes, you also really need to remind yourself everything that you’ve been doing, even if you aren’t exactly seeing the results at the moment. Take the time to appreciate how far…

  • Stunts, Meetings and Sets

Last Friday was a pretty exciting and scary day for me. The afternoon was mostly interesting, since I got another case to portray at the McGill simulation center. I had a much more elaborate backstory, with boyfriends and occupations and it was slightly stressful, but so much fun also. I am really enjoying the time before we start the scenarios, when all of the fake patients hang out in a room and talk. Most of the time it is about shows or the weather or random things that are going on, not actually acting, but it truly is inspiring to be a part of this program that caters to the…

  • Lost and Found: Opportunities

There have been a lot of really interesting developments since I last posted, though by now most of them haven’t panned out, so I am being cautiously optimistic about the last one. It all started while I was on my way to acting class with Suzanna. I got a call from a casting agency asking if I was still available for a role (as an extra) that I had applied for over a month ago. It was supposed to be an ACTRA part, so I was so excited that I got it, and couldn’t keep the smile off my face as she told me that wardrobe would be calling. The…

  • Busy as a Bee

I haven’t written in forever, which is partially because I have been busy, but mostly because there are two things that I wanted to figure out before sharing with you. Since they still haven’t been resolved, I decided to post what I can, and to give you the rest once I have all of the information. Since it has been quite a while, I won’t give you the day by day summaries I normally do, but will just let you know what has been going on with me (for the most part). I have had two classes with Suzanna. During the first one, I got to do 3 different scenes!…

  • Wraps, Trailers and Acting Income

Last week after posting here, I received my first cheque representing acting income (at least since deciding to make acting my full-time career). It wasn’t a huge amount, and I would have gotten paid more for working at my previous job, even before the promotion, but it was validation. Not to mention that my mom pointed out that i would rather work for free on movie sets than for 40 000 a year at my old job. I also went for some shopping and to see The Bling Ring with Carolyne and Morgan. It was a different kind of acting, but it was interesting. And, they both seem to be…

  • Summer is Here!

The sun is shining and life is beautiful! There is something about the weather that makes everything seem happier and easier, although it also means another busy season of movies for Montreal has started without me, but I digress. Wednesday night, I got my first taste of the Actor’s Fight Club. It is supposed to be a place where actors meet to work on auditions or lines or simply come to act. The rules aren’t quite the same as in the movie Fight Club, as it is an entirely different concept, but the first rule, “Leave your ego at the door”, is repeated multiple times in the list. This particular…

  • Two for Two!

Now that I am back home and still pursuing acting over a more stable career, I am getting slightly stressed out about not doing enough, which leads to me making a lot of lists and feeling like I have an overwhelming amount of things to do. It is lucky that I have a mild case of OCD, because I really like checking items off my list, so things seem to be getting done.  I have been back from Los Angeles for 2 weeks, and have already been on two auditions. The second one was Monday night, and I did the scenes 4 times, which I hope means they saw something…
