First Day On Set!!!
I had the week off from acting classes, but got to learn actual lines, and do some real acting. Not that we don’t do real acting in class, but this footage is actually intended for mass distribution instead of to be viewed by myself and my classmates. With the help of my brother, I got all of my lines down before meeting my scene partner on Thursday. Casting Calls and Booking Jobs :)
Two very interesting things have happened since my last post. On Saturday, I got up very early so that Carolyne and I could drive to Ottawa for a casting call. We got there less than an hour after it started, and were given a call time of 3 pm, which is when the casting directors were supposed to leave. A Very Good Friday!
This has been a really good week for me, or at least the past few days have been. I had been preparing for the casting call on Sunday, and class on Thursday, without much else going on, until Wednesday… To start, I got my scene partner for the May Tom Todoroff Intensive. Dream a Little Dream…
I just got back from a partially relaxing weekend in Quebec City, where I dined on delicious food at Le Continental, swam outside in the snow and got some writing done before putting in some work. I also had a lovely dinner with my parents, where my dad reminded me of my writing dreams, and said he would get my book published for me if I could write it, so I am going to be working a little more on that now! Second Time’s The Charm :)
Saturday I spent the day at a theater, for my second taste of the Tom Todoroff Act Now program. I had both been looking forward to it, and was slightly terrified of it, since I was expected to have worked on what I got wrong last time and improved, which I was afraid I hadn’t. Luckily, though I was still a bit nervous, the stress and fear disappeared as soon as I got there. Back in Class!
This past week has been pretty busy for me, and I love feeling like I am actually doing something. On Thursday, I went back to class with Suzanna Lenir, and did in fact get to catch up with some friends who were there before I left, and also meet some new ones. I arrived there almost a half an hour before class, but spent the whole time talking with my fellow classmates about my trip to LA and our acting journeys. Two for Two!
Now that I am back home and still pursuing acting over a more stable career, I am getting slightly stressed out about not doing enough, which leads to me making a lot of lists and feeling like I have an overwhelming amount of things to do. It is lucky that I have a mild case of OCD, because I really like checking items off my list, so things seem to be getting done. Home Sweet Home
This is the lovely weather I came home to. Two Weeks to Go!
It’s really when you’re reaching the end of a journey that you truly start to see everything you wanted to do but haven’t gotten to yet. It also means I have to start figuring out what I’ll do when I get home. Which is exciting and scary at the same time. So far I have signed back up with the acting and improv schools I was studying with, and I’ve been trying to decide if I should move to Toronto and for how long. Whose Grass Is Greener?
I admit I had very unrealistic ideas about L.A. Not this trip, but eventually, I planned on coming here, auditioning for an amazing part in a TV show or movie and blowing them away, so much so that they would get me an O-1 Visa and I would become a working actress in Hollywood. Of course, I knew it was a dream, and have since become more realistic. My new plan consists of going home to Montreal, taking classes, auditioning, then doing the same in Toronto.
