• Edinburgh <3

This past weekend, I took a trip to Edinburgh, which is still technically the United Kingdom, but it’s Scotland, so I am counting it as a new country, even if there was no border and I didn’t actually have to bring my passport. I opted for the overnight bus, which was supposed to arrive around 7 something in the morning, which I thought would give me ample time to freshen up and be ready for my day. Instead, we took a more direct route and I got there before 6:30, which would be awesome, except it meant I got less sleep, and had more time to kill before the rest…

  • My First Writing Post

Okay, not my first post in this category, but the first time that I am sharing my writing with you. It’s from a story I still refer to as Prologue, because of a habit I used to have of saving things under the first few words instead of actually finding a title. I finished it for the July NANOWRIMO, and am currently editing it for possible, eventual publication. This actually really terrifies me, putting it here for the world to see, but here it is, my first piece of fictional writing on the blog 🙂 Prologue I watched the raindrops hitting the windshield, listening as the rain pounded on the…

  • Another 50 000

No, not money. Although that would be lovely. Instead, today marks the end of my second November participating in the National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) 🙂 I was going to post throughout the month with updates, but ultimately decided to put the words into my story instead of into talking about the story. Which leads to me having been able to finish another novel in a month. Or, a novella. Still, a major accomplishment for someone who hadn’t been able to finish more than a play within a story before last year. I now have two NANOs and two Camp NANOs under my belt. My next mission is to edit…

  • The best friend mindset

Our minds are really incredible things. I have been reading a lot of articles lately about the difference between successful vs non-successful people, or even hot vs not hot girls (horrible title, but the article was really good) and they all seem to imply that a huge part of it is due to a shift in mindset. Which means that I can work as hard as I want, but if I don’t think I’m good enough and I don’t think I’ll make it, then I probably won’t. Unless I am auditioning for a really shy person with absolutely no self-confidence. Then I would nail it. But, as far as my…

  • Write-Ins, Auditions and Plays :)

So far it’s a lot of baby steps, but they will all add up, right? I am referring to my commitment of doing something every day that makes me slightly nervous. And it wasn’t really a question, because there are already things that made me nervous when I started, but don’t anymore. Such as yoga class. And trying to do the crow pose. Or a handstand. Nowhere near succeeding at either of these, but I am giving them a solid effort. And going out with people for supper afterwards 🙂 These past few days have mostly been spent editing and adding to the book I wrote last November, but today…

  • The Second Draft

I am a really big fan of 5 year plans and lists, which you can tell because I am always posting them. A few days ago I made a 5 year plan that ends with me living and working as an actress in Los Angeles. I am fully aware that it might take longer for certain things to happen, to jump certain tiers, but it is incredibly exciting to think that it could be possible, and that as long as I keep hustling, some day I will end up there. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Over the past few weeks, I have been working on writing a second draft of the book I wrote…

  • Trips, Scenes and a Screening

This past week took off to a shaky start. But also a really exciting one. Due to a combination of events that I knew were excuses and not legitimate reasons, I didn’t make it to stunt class last week. I kept thinking that if it was that hard to get me to the first class, did I really want to have to convince myself to go every week? In the end, I decided I would do an intensive stunt course, so I just need to motvate myself to go once for a long time, then I will be done. I also found out that due to my mom’s injury, she…

  • Back from the Sun :)

I’m back! I had a wonderful time in Punta Cana with all my family, but am now very ready to get back to the grind of the acting world. I left on the 1st and only got back on the 15th, which has only left me a few days to get back to work, but I have been scouring the casting websites, submitting myself, and reconnecting with old friends in the industry. I definitely want to have a successful acting career, but think it would be incredible to be able to get there along with my friends, like how Adam Sandler has his friends in all of his movies, or…

  • Making Plans and Finishing Screenplays :)

If you say something enough times, it becomes true, right? Well, just in case there is a correlation, I am reminding the powers that be that 2014 has been dubbed The Year of Carolyne and Amanda. We met up on Wednesday partially to celebrate some audition and imdb success, but mostly to plan out exactly how we will make 2014 our year. We compared goals, found the ones that were the same, and came away with a list of things each of us had to research before the new year. We each still have our own personal goals, but I find it’s a lot easier to drag yourself to do…

  • Private Coaching and a Lack of Tears

Sitting at home with the remnants of our first real snowfall outside, it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Which means the deadline for my resolutions is fast approaching.  I have now completed my added resolution of reading all of the plays I had purchased in August, including Tennessee Williams’ big 3. I got into them not really knowing anything about the story. For a Streetcar Named Desire, I literally just knew that Marlon Brando was in the movie and at some point he calls out “Stella!” For Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and the Glass Menagerie, I knew nothing except the line about ‘no-neck monsters’…
