Take Two

I am flying back to Los Angeles on Tuesday, and I cannot wait to escape the weather (but there are a few people I wish I could take with me)!

These past few days I have mostly been prepping for this return, which includes packing (I love travelling, but packing is a nightmare!) as well as celebrating my mom’s birthday. This year, we took her out for supper, and went to see two movies, one of which was Parental Guidance, with Bailee Madison. It was a really good movie, and has a lot of bigger stars in it, but there’s just something about that 13 year old…I am guessing most actors who are just starting out also get jealous of all the actors whose roles they think they could play. Of course I’m too old for her roles now, but I keep seeing her in all these really interesting roles, and then I wish I would have pushed harder and started at this younger. But lately I have been trying to change my outlook. It would be a lot easier for me now if I had got my start at a young age like Dakota Fanning, or Bailee, but at the same time, I probably wouldn’t be the same person I am today if I had. I got to grow up normally, to finish school, to have normal jobs…I’m not saying I wouldn’t love to have their careers, or a childhood that included movie sets, but mine was pretty awesome too, and I like to believe this is how it was supposed to be.  

In addition to appreciating what I have, I am trying to stop being jealous of the actresses who get to play the roles of my dreams. For example, Kristen Stewart and Emma Watson were both born a few days before or after me, so I always find myself comparing myself to them. Lately, I have been letting myself be inspired by them, which is much healthier than coveting their careers, and  instead of holding me back as I think of what could have been, it pushes me forward by showing me what I can aspire to be. What I can work to accomplish.

Also, I have bought a domain name and am trying to build a website, but it is proving difficult at the moment. I will let you know once the website has something of interest, but that is 2 New Year’s Resolutions I have checked off and we are only January 6th. Here’s to hoping the rest of 2013 sees me, and all of you, working hard and making our dreams come true!
