Back from the Sun :)
I’m back! I had a wonderful time in Punta Cana with all my family, but am now very ready to get back to the grind of the acting world. I left on the 1st and only got back on the 15th, which has only left me a few days to get back to work, but I have been scouring the casting websites, submitting myself, and reconnecting with old friends in the industry. I definitely want to have a successful acting career, but think it would be incredible to be able to get there along with my friends, like how Adam Sandler has his friends in all of his movies, or the earlier groups from the Groundlings or SNL stick together.
These past few days have mostly been spent submitting and preparing myself to future acting, but I have also been working on some New Year’s Resolutions, and getting a jump start on tracking down receipts for my income tax :s.
One of my resolutions was to write a book, and I have now decided which book I want to write. I chose it not because it was the most developed or furthest along, but because after spending a large part of my trip reading, it was the story I most wanted to write. It will be one of those YA types, possibly a series, but for now I am just working on Book 1. It’s a world I can’t wait to create and get lost in 🙂
As for Tough Mudder, it isn’t until July, but as of Thursday, I have been signed up, along with one of my cousins. I am slightly terrified about it, but will hopefully take the next 5 months to train so well that I will not kill myself or sustain too much bodily injury at the event. We plan on being a group of us, so we will train together once it gets warmer and I’ve increased my endurance a bit.
Bookwise, I have gone above and beyond. I brought a bunch of books on vacation and read all but one. Anna Karenina was started a while ago, but I finally finished it, in addition to The Red Queen, the White Queen, the Kingmaker’s Daughter, Delirium and Orange is the New Black. I would be halfway done if my goal were just to read 12 books this year.
I have already crossed off the something that scares me this month, by doing two, one of which I was maybe more excited than scared. I have wanted to go paddle boarding for so long, but it never seems to be available at the hotels I go to, possibly because the water is too rough. This vacation, four of us went to a dock out in the ocean, surrounded by a reef, where the water was calm enough for us to set off paddle boarding. We didn’t stay out long, but my brother bet I wouldn’t be able to stay up 5 minutes, and I succeeded for a whole 7 in one shot. It is definitely something I want to try again. We also went to snorkel in a caged in area with sharks and sting rays, which would be the second scary thing I did this month.
I get back to class on Tuesday, and hopefully some of the submitting will lead to auditions, but for now I am off to work on some more resolutions, and on learning me some lines. Hope everyone had happy holidays and let’s keep striving towards our goals 🙂
