• Oh What A Year

I like to spend the last few days of December figuring out what I want to achieve in the next year, but I also like to take some time to go over everything that I have accomplished over the past 12 months. Every time I do this, I realize that even if I am not where I planned to be, I am still leagues further than I was. And especially this year, even if everything on the outside had stayed the same, I have not. I understand a lot more about myself, my comfort zone is huge compared to what it was, and I actually feel ready for all of…

  • Sets and SPs

This past Monday I got my first day on a Toronto set in years, and it was…a lot of things. When I was doing the back and forth for Reign, it was my first experience with knowing the names of some of the ADs, and also having them know mine. When I checked in at my call time, the girl didn’t have to ask me my name, she just highlighted it and handed me my voucher. This was followed by years of background in Montreal until finally, this past Spring, I got them to know me. I spent the summer being one of the people whose name the AD knows,…

  • Summer 2017

You might have noticed that I haven’t been updating this blog as regularly as I usually do, so I am going to tell you a bit about what I have been up to this Summer, then get back into a more weekly groove once you’re all caught up. To start, I had the awesome opportunity of being on set a lot in June and July. I had one of my top background experiences, but I also spent weekends on set with speaking parts I can’t wait to share with you. From an aspiring actress in Overexposed, to a determined young woman in The House They Lived In, without forgetting my…

  • Dancing to no Music

Although this weekend was pretty relaxed and family centered, last weekend we filmed a scene for the Cohort. Scheduling issues led to us having a lot of downtime after everyone’s makeup was done to simply hang out and talk. We caught up on each other’s lives, tv shows, but also on careers, the industry and our goals and ambitions. I know I say it all the time, but I absolutely love talking shop and hearing other people’s perspectives on this crazy life I have chosen. As for the scene itself, I wasn’t supposed to have a line in it, but other people couldn’t make it, so I got one. I…

  • Another Weekend On Sets

I started off the weekend in the best way possible; at a spa and dinner date with my best friend for her birthday. On Saturday, I was background on a series that films here in Montreal, pretending to be a university student. I feel like I have never been so productive as when I was sitting in a classroom, listening to a lecture, so being able to do that without any kind of exam or testing on the material is absolutely wonderful 😉 I met some people, and got a lot of insight from one of the 3rd ADs. It was also really nice to see someone I know and…

  • Work, Class, Combat, Magic

Already halfway through August. Summer is fading fast and I am nowhere near where I had planned to be by now, but I am still keeping busy. I have worked a few days at McGill, which is always fun. One day I was playing a woman who had just given birth, while also writing a story about a character in the same situation during our breaks. This definitely put me in an interesting head space, and I personally think it made the acting and the writing a little better, because they could feed off each other. I went to see two movies in theatres, both action/adventure films that I would…

  • Workshops, Classes and Nursing

I was going to start this post by saying I have been busy this week, but I realized that is also how I started my last post. Obviously, I need to be more creative with my opening lines, but at the same time, I am absolutely loving this state of being busy and doing things that make me feel like I have somewhat of a hold on this unpredictable career I have chosen. On Tuesday, I went to a workshop with L.A. Casting Director Paul Weber. There were a couple of people in the group who were in the French union and taking the workshop to transition to the English…

  • Photoshoots and Film fests

This weekend ended on a pretty high note. After having lunch with the two most amazing mothers on the planet, I went to do a photoshoot for a webseries I am a part of. So far, I have only filmed a party scene where I didn’t have any lines, but I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this character, because she seems like a whole lot of fun. I really love working on this project, because everyone is so nice and professional. Each time I go, we have makeup artists, food, and just a really nice working environment. The photographer had me laughing and dancing, and even insisted on…

  • Night shoots

This past week I have done lots, but also a bit of nothing. As in I have constantly been doing things, but not crossing anything off of my list of things to do. My week started off with some night shoots. I got to be a reporter, which I really enjoyed. Not because I actually did anything different from the other extras, but I got to stand right at the front, and actually got to hear what the actors were saying. This includes their lines, while they were rehearsing, and their banter between takes as well. It was really interesting to see how differently the actors will do the scene…

  • A Different Kind of Easter

I usually like to spend my Easter Day finding clues and chocolates scattered around my house as well as my grandmother’s, but this year we did things a little different. For starters, my parents and I spent the weekend in Toronto so that my dad could catch up with his best friend, and I could do background on a pilot. Just a little background info, a pilot is the first episode of a TV series that will be used to try and convince a network to order more episodes, so that it can hopefully become an actual series. As far as the extras are concerned, there isn’t that much of…
